Dealing with Fear of People's opinions

We are living in a fast changing world where everybody has something to say about everything that is happening. Most often than not, our lives are pegged on the question, ‘’What will people say?’’ Well this is a good question to ask oneself because it shows a consciousness towards the people around you and the society at large. Nevertheless, if a consideration on this question is the reason that an individual remains stuck in one position all their life, then there is need for a reconsideration. Now, this does not mean support of a certain level of arrogance in individuals who feel that that they have no need to be subject to anyone nor listen to any authority over their lives. WHO'S BACKING YOU?

  At one time in my life I have served in the praise & worship team in church. Honestly speaking, I can tell you that its quite a big deal if you don’t have the ‘’nice vocals’’. In my early days of joining the team, due to my limitation in producing a nice music sound that could send congregants to their knees, 99% of my participation was in the backup. Projecting our voices for the purposes of supporting the lead singer, hence perform a nice worship/praise was our main task. I can’t tell how many times I got red in the eyes after being chocked by saliva for trying to project my voice beyond my capability. You can imagine the struggle of trying to hold in the cough and still hold the microphone as if nothing is wrong. There are times I could hear myself hitting a strong ‘’off key’’ at the top of my voice, the kind that makes people stop singing first so that they can reconnect again.
