ABORTION.

 When this word ‘abortion’ is mentioned, it brings different impression to different people

To most of us; it’s a crime against humanity and sin against God

To some; “It’s a legal right to do away with that which invades another without permission to do so”.

To others; it’s like a traumatizing movie in which they acted as the starring.  

To others; it’s like a lion they escaped from its mouth which nearly crushed them to death.

Nevertheless, when viewed from another perspective, this word can actually make one stop thinking ‘normally’ to the ways they are used to. What would you do if you knew the Formulae to finding the solution to the equation why you are in that situation you never thought you would be?

In this case, will define Abortion as an act of the mind that entails uprooting and bringing down any productive thought that is meant to bare fruits of success. Abortion has taken away many lives, it has destroyed dreams and it has killed the hope of many. Each passing day an act of abortion is committed by somebody somewhere.

When its morning and you ought to wake up to study for an upcoming exam or prepare for a critical interview; Abortion says: “It’s not easy to awake from such a sweet sleep”, it says, ‘you  can sleep a little more and prepare later’…it never tells you that “A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep and poverty shall come upon you like a vagabond and want like an armed robber” (proverbs 6:10-11)… and that, “later”, is a language of procrastination which is an enemy of progress.

When you attain a certain knowledge in life and think of investing it in a productive project to be of benefit to many; Abortion says: “Many have tried such things and it got them nowhere, you are not the first one to have such an idea, who do you think you are to outshine them all”!!!…it never tells you that failing to start what you think is of benefit  is as good as having no thought at all… it can’t tell you that you are unique in your own way and your approach may be as unique as you choose to be. 

When you are called to sign up for a challenge that could get you a step higher in your studies, carrier or lifestyle; Abortion says: “Just look at yourself, you are not competent enough, you can’t make it, you are not smart at it, your cohorts are better than you, they are much highly ranked’’…it never tells you that being confident in who you are and what you can do is the best weapon to defeating self-doubt and the need to fit in.

When you get to that point where you want to stop doing all the bad things that make your parents, siblings and friends regret ever having you in their life; Abortion says: “You can’t quit, this is who you are, it’s not possible to stop doing it, you can’t have a decent life, you are good for nothing’’…it never tells you that indeed all can give up on you but if you choose not to give up on yourself, you can actually quit the unpleasant lifestyle… It can’t tell you that change is just a decision away. 

If God Himself affirms that you are of importance to this world, who are you to say that you are good for nothing… “You are bought at a price: therefore, glorify God in your body… (1corrinthians 6:20a), the fact that you are bought with a price shows that you actually have something great to offer to the world. Nobody goes to the market to purchase something at high price and yet have no use for it. 

Often times we let abortion take the lead and we take the back seat just to watch things unfold, but we can choose to reason otherwise.

WHY ALL THE MESS?

 On this particular evening I was really angry but ‘stupidly’ angry because no one had crossed my path. Many are the times we get annoyed because some people or somebody has just tampered with our temperament. As I alighted a bus and headed to the place of my residence in one of the slums in Nairobi, I could hardly find a place to step! I looked at my purely white dress, my stiletto shoes and imagined how I was going to walk on the muddy road with dirty sewage water flowing all over.
